The Christmas season is magical. It also 'magically' seems to cause unexpected friction in marriages. Instead of romantically sipping eggnog with your spouse, we often find ourselves in petty arguments about gifts, in-laws, lack of money, and what to teach our kids about Santa Clause. If you could use some good resources right about now, or just need gift ideas, look no further. Written by my buddy and fellow Tired Dad, Aaron Smith, this is a must-have book for every husband that is serious about loving his wife the way Jesus loves His church. There is also a HIS & HER's prayer book as well! This is, by far, the book I recommend most for parents (or any adult, really!). It does a beautiful job of teaching your kids that the Bible is not a book of random stories, but rather, one big story of God redeeming the world back to himself. Get it. Seriously. The purpose of marriage is not to make you more happy, the purpose of marriage is to make you more holy. Francis and his wife Lisa do an amazing job at giving us the Biblical definition of marriage. I spent several hours this week talking with my friends about what it means to be a "man" in today's culture. If you have a hard time defining what a Christian man is, you will likely have a hard time of defining it for your son as well. This book will help. Our goal is not to simply teach our kids right from wrong. As Christian fathers, our goal must be to shepherd the hearts of our children toward Jesus. |
