Mother's day is fast approaching, and if you're like most men, this is the time where you start to freak out. Did you buy your wife a gift? What about your mother? Is it too late to order something online? Below is a no-nonsense, straight to the point guide to help you crush Mother's Day 2017.

The Who.

Mother's Day isn't just about your mother, it's about all mothers. Here are the ladies you should be acknowledging:

- The Mother of Your Kids
- The Future Mother of Your Kids
- Your Mother
- Your Mother-in-Law
- Your Step Mother
- Your Grandmother
- Any Single Mother's in Your life
- Any Women who have miscarried or struggle with infertility

Don't get overwhelmed. I'll give you some practical Mother's Day gift ideas at the end.

The What.

A holiday dedicated to Mother's in America is actually a fairly new idea; started by Anna Jarvis in 1914. Although she spent years of her life pushing to see the holiday created, she would later denounce it due to it's over commercialization. Like Anna, most men hate over-commercialized holidays that force them to act a certain way (we're looking at you, Valentine's Day), but Mother's day is one holiday that you shouldn't skip out on.

The When.

Mother's Day is Sunday, May 14th 2017. Block out the entire day.

The Why.

We don't celebrate Mother's Day because our country tells us to, or because the economy needs a boost. We celebrate Mother's Day because we believe in mothers. There are two women in particular that should be getting all your attention on this day: Your Wife & Your Mother.

The scriptures teach us to honor our Father and Mother, so regardless of what you think about the holiday, this is a great opportunity to honor the woman who brought you into this world.

Secondly, Christ laid down his life for his bride. He gave up his Kingship to wash her dirty feet. And then he told us to love our wife like that. As Christian men, we use every opportunity to lift up, celebrate, and bring value to our bride.

The How.

Alright, let's get to the practical. Here are some Mother's Day gift ideas for every type of mother in your life.

The "Words of Affirmation" Mom: Make a video of your kids sharing the things they love most about their mommy. End the video with a segment of you sharing specific things your wife does to love your kids well. If your kids are a little older, they can write notes to go along with the video.

The "Acts of Service" Mom: Send mommy away for a few hours to pamper herself while you and the kids do a "total home makeover." Deep clean the entire house and tackle any areas she would be shocked to see cleaned.

The "Physical Touch" Mom: For your wife, give a "HomeSpa" coupon book filled with massages and foot rubs (make sure this doesn't turn into a gift for you ;) ). For your mom, consider a gift card for a manicure or pedicure.

The "Gifts" Mom: If you're looking for a great Mother's Day gift that she can actually hold, you should definitely consider the new Bible that She Reads Truth just put out. It's amazing and perfectly designed for women. Pick it up HERE.

The "Quality Time" Mom: Block out the entire day to spend time together with just your immediate family. Take the lead in making sure that all electronics are put away; no screen time for anyone. Spend the day playing board games, going to the park for a picnic, or doing a movie night at the house. For your mom, block out a day when you take your mom on a date. Just you and her. Spend the day window-shopping, going on a walk, and sharing a meal together.
Alright guys, what did I miss? Leave your Mother's Day gift ideas in the comments below.
